Mulch & garden beds — the questions.

How often do beds need mulch?

Most properties want a fresh layer once a year, usually in spring. Some beds only need a top-up every other year, depending on how fast the mulch breaks down and how much sun the bed gets.

Do you supply the mulch?

Yes. We supply and spread it, and we can match what is already down or change it if you want a different colour or a coarser grade.

Can you get rid of weeds for good?

Nothing is permanent, but pulling at the root before mulching, and keeping the layer deep enough, holds most beds for a season. Beds that are hammered by weeds usually need the edge fixed too.

Do you prune shrubs?

We do, in the right window for the plant. Pruning spring bloomers in autumn costs you next year’s flowers, so timing matters more than the cut.
