Gutters — the questions.

How often should gutters be cleaned here?

Most Ithaca homes with trees nearby need it at least twice a year, once after the leaves drop in fall and again in spring. Heavy tree cover can mean more.

Do you clean the downspouts too?

Yes. A clean gutter feeding a blocked downspout still overflows, so we flush the downspouts as part of the job.

Can guards go on the gutters I already have?

Usually, yes. If the gutters are sound we fit guards to them. If a run is sagging or pulling off, we will tell you before we start.

Do guards mean I never clean the gutters again?

No guard is zero-maintenance, but they keep the leaves and sticks out of the trough, so cleanouts get far less frequent.
